Sales of the commercial vehicle for western Europe are now set to go down for this year as euro zone crisis of debt crimps the demand, says VDA industry association on Germany. Matthias Wissmann, the president of VDA said that the conditions now got rough for this year. Over this year, they are expecting some new registrations for the heavy duty trucks for Western Europe for totaling somewhere around 256k and 250k units. This would be drop of around two to four percent as compared to that of the last year says Wissmann.

The volume decrease from month of April reflects a bit slowing but not stalling economy. The for-hire tonnage of truck fell about 0.7 percent in the month of May from April but it had grown at slightly faster pace on basis of year-over-year, 4.1 per cent, reflecting slowing, yet not stalling, growth of economy.
Month-to-month drop was 2nd in one row, as the tonnage had dipped about 1.1 per cent in the month of April from March & rose by 3.5 per cent year-over-year. For 1st 5 months of the year 2012, American Trucking Associations Truck Tonnage For-Hire Index was higher by 3.8 per cent as compared to this period one year ago.

New sales of truck for heavy-duty for May had continued this year’s huge gains over the year 2011, posting best total of the year 2012 – & second best for 5 years -long with all the name plates getting better more than twenty percent.
The figures that are given to various sources on the Internet say that the sales of Class 8 were around 18,012 trucks for USA, up by 35.5% from May 2011 & up by 6.5 % from the month of April. Year-over-year enhancement was 29th consecutive.

Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz, Brazil’s 2nd largest bus & truck maker in terms of market share, will be taking 1,500 workers off the lines assembly at Brazil for 5 months for lowering production as the demand goes down.
Employees from German auto maker’s factory @ Sao Bernardo do Campo will get additional training in the period, Stuttgart-based firm said. Leif Ostling, the Chief Executive at Scania, who will be leaving his position for joining board of Volkswagen, majority-owner, says that he is expecting truck market of Europe to go down by around 10 percent in this year. He says that the truck markets haven’t changed a lot since Scania had reported on the first quarter for April & the outlook for European market, Scania’s largest, was in the line with Volvo’s drop forecast.
He says that it is still a bit touch for Europe. They gave roughly same figure as that of Volvo for European market. They haven’t changed this (view) says Ostling.
